Tennessee
Livestock Producers is the marketing affiliate of the
Tennessee Farm Bureau and is recognized as its oldest
service company. "Producers" was started by
Farm Bureau in 1932 as a marketing cooperative doing business
at the Union Stockyards in Nashville. The purpose was
to establish a competitive bid for all livestock at this
Nashville market which in turn was used as a benchmark
price throughout the state. Today "Producers"
is wholly owned by Farm Bureau and continues in its purpose
to help maintain a competitive bid for livestock throughout
the state. The locations and methods have changed but
the purpose remains strong.
